What's the best way to handle a deadbeat houseguest?

Take away their privelges one by one till they leave on their own. Or is that cruel?

Tell him/her what’s bothering you, just be straight forward it is your home.

Yes. Tell them you’re glad they could be with you for (amount of time they’ve already been with you) and now it’s time to go. Tomorrow. Bye bye. No arguments, no explanations, no apologies. You’ve already been really nice. It’s their turn.

I think the collective was very helpful. I was actually asking, What’s the best way to get rid of a deadbeat houseguest? I know the answer. I really wanted to hear other opinions.
