How can I learn to enjoy waking up in the mornings?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24463points) October 30th, 2020

I have hated mornings ever since grade school. How do I overcome having to wake up in mornings? Have you ever felt like that?

Sounds like you are just not a morning person.

What time do you need to get up to start your day? 10 a.m.? Noon? 2 p.m.?

You don’t have any obligations that require you to be up at a specific time, so don’t. Make appointments for as late in the day as possible.

It may also help if you go to bed earlier instead of staying up late. I always feel much better in the morning when I get a good night’s sleep.

Get up later in the day.

From all I’ve read from you it doesn’t really sound like you have any kind of regular schedule to adhere to (like, say, someone who has to clock into work at 9AM), so there’s really no reason why you have to get up in the morning.

Just smash the alarm clock and go back to sleep. If you have a job, call in with some lame excuse.

It might help to understand what it is you hate. Are you sure it’s the morning or just the fact that you must wake up?

@stanleybmanly I am not sure. My best guess is that I haven’t finished sleeping.

Can you go back to sleep, or do you just not want to leave your bed?

@RedDeerGuy1

Are you getting enough sleep? No matter what specific hours you keep your body needs to have enough sleep.

@Darth_Algar My visons keep me up at night. I will see my doctor about it. I’m on new medicine that takes the emotional pain away. I still have visions/halucinations. I made a follow up appointment with my family doctor on Nov 2nd. I see my Psychiatrist on last week of Nov.

For me, I always have something to look forward to the next day. Whether it is a nice breakfast, my bridge lesson or the bridge tourney I play each day at 5pm. Life is good. I am blessed many times over. God Bless. I hope your doctor/medication will help.

I make a to-do list the night before, and keep it at my bedside. I try to list exciting, fun things if possible, so when I wake up, that’s the first thing I notice.

Plan on eating a more delicious breakfast, like eggs, sausage, hash browns, toast, and a big glass of milk.

Change your eating plan so that you have your largest meals for breakfast and lunch and just a light meal for dinner. That will make you hungry in the morning for breakfast, which would be a good motivation for getting out of bed.
