Dr. Fauci is 79 years old. He may welcome getting fired. He may also welcome leaving the shit show that is the Trump Administration. When Biden gets in, he can always hire him back.

CNN states that trump cannot fire Fauci as he is a civil servant and trump has no power over them. He can sideline Fauci by keeping him away from press briefings and media. Also by bad mouthing him.
My personal opinion is that Fauci may be 79, but I think he wants to see this pandemic through to the end. He has only 2 more months of trump, and can make it that much longer.
I’m on my cell so I can’t link the CNN article.

@chyna That all makes sense.

I agree that Fauci doesn’t want to leave or be fired, @chyna. Just posting a hypothetical.

Forbes – October 28, 2020 – “On October 21, 2020, President Trump signed an executive order that made major changes to the federal civil service. There are political implications from this, but from an employment law perspective, this executive order can potentially eliminate due process protections for many federal employees, making them easier to fire.”

He can’t. See what @chyna said.

Looking further, the executive order takes time to be effective. If it is implemented as quickly as possible, Trump could possibly fire people in his last moments in office.

CNN – October 25, 2020 – “Under the executive order, agency heads have 90 days to review which positions should be reclassified, with the deadline falling on January 19 — the day before the presidential inauguration (final determinations would be due in 210 days).”

@Call_Me_Jay And it is my understanding that all executive orders made within 60 days of an inauguration can be reversed automatically by the incoming President. Although with this being made on October 25, I don’t know if that will apply.

President Elect Biden is going to have a long Day 1!

Five days ago Steve Bannon suggested in his pidcast that Dr Fauci & FBI Director Chris Wrey should be beheaded & each head placed on a corner of the WH fence. I would think that Fauci would welcome being fired over the uncertainty of a lunatic!!!

He can’t sack Fauci. He doesn’t have the authority.

jca2's avatar

He can’t fire him easily but he can make it messy. I googled this and there are a lot of articles online about it. Here’s one:

@Caravanfan Telling him that he doesn’t have the authority has the same affect as a hooker spanking him,he gets excited and acts crazy. It becomes one more thing that he “has to do” to prove he’s the boss
