What are some business ideas?

Asked by socialfly26 (212points) November 12th, 2020

I am enrolled in a business administration bachelors program at American Intercontinental University. I have gotten an opportunity to earn extra credit, which I really need, by starting my own small business.I’m looking for business ideas. I’m looking to angel investor’s for funding so it has to be something with grown potential. I have an ideas to sell t-shirts and other products with motivation quotes on them and call it Motivational Sensational Products. Let me know some ideas.

How about demotivational quotes?

Think of what you like to do and/or are good at. Think of a need in your community or online.

Shirts with inspirational quotes are probably a dime a dozen on Amazon, or at Walmart.

I’d stick to specific demo’s right now, like pet products with international appeal. I wouldnt buy your inspirational tshirt as my humor runs dark and sarcastic but I would a dog -shaming or snarky tshirt.

@socialfly26 “I’m looking to angel investor’s for funding so it has to be something with grown potential.”

I think this is a terrible plan. Angel investors (who aren’t total idiots) are not going to invest in a business idea without a proven track record. How much of your own money/assets are you willing to put on the line? Would you sell your car for startup capital? If you’re not even sure what you want to do, how can you possibly ask someone else to invest their money in it with a clean conscious?

What are the needs/problems you might be able to address. Look for a demand and then create the solution to that problem. Do people really have a lack of access to motivational shirts?

To be serious (unlike my previous response) t-shirts with little quotes, sayings, pictures, etc is an staggeringly oversaturated market. Hell, you don’t even have to put up money for it. There are plenty of websites that will print up your stuff as ordered and take a portion of the sale (usually a huge portion). That doesn’t exactly scream “growth potential” to me.

Your bigger problem is that you seem to have no idea what you want to do or, maybe, even where your particular skills lie. No one’s going to give you money for a business just because you ask. Until you come up with a solid business plan of your own no one’s going to invest in it.

Two words: business plan.
Whatever business seems attractive to you, t-shirts or whatever, work out the basic cost and cashflow bits first to understand if the whole thing even has a chance.
As @Darth_Algar mentions the t-shirt market is oversaturated, which should reduce the appeal of that business. Some other business that seems more mundane could get you excited if the business plan shows PROFITS !

I would like to have a smash room. Where you are given protective equipment a sledge hammer and a room full of stuff to smash.

I would like to have a service that is like a pawn shop but takes a truck to your apartment and gives you quick cash for most of your stuff eliminating the need for storage.
