Do any of you really believe that Trump will refuse to leave the White House on Jan. 21?

Asked by Nomore_lockout (7592points) December 8th, 2020

I think he’ll continue to posture, but will vacate when the time comes. What say you?

Even Trump wont create an international embarrassment. Will he?

elbanditoroso's avatar

I’m actually sort of hoping that they US Marshalls force goes in, handcuffs him, and escorts him to a paddy wagon.

But I think that in the end, he’ll back down and leave quietly.

ragingloli's avatar

I lean towards the scenario of him slinking away like a coward, then going back to campaigning how the election was rigged immediately after.
Of course, there is a good chance that he will have to be removed by force by the Secret Service, while his armed cultist supporters will amass outsided trying to prevent it.
They might even start shooting at the Secret Service.
I would prefer that, since it would be a lot more entertaining to watch.

janbb's avatar

I think he’ll go. Supposedly he is talking about flying down to Florida on Airforce 1 and holding a rally there at the same time as the Inauguration! I wouldn’t put that past him.

elbanditoroso's avatar

I read something in the paper over the weekend that he may go to Mar a Lago over Christmas and simply not come back to Washington.

Nomore_lockout's avatar

@janbb Nor would I. @elbanditoroso Hell he just as well not come back, he never does anything when he’s there anyway.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Just ask yourself “What would a spooled rotten 2 year old do?”

Strauss's avatar

Personally, I think he’s going to “disappear” to avoid all the legal issues facing him and his businesses…that is, if he doesn’t “get disappeared” in the pfocess

Nomore_lockout's avatar

I was just thinking about what a farce, what an embarrassment it would be, if he really does try to pull a stupid stunt like that. I’d been reading some comments about it on a news feed on my phone, that’s what made me post this question. LOL@Dutchess_III

Nomore_lockout's avatar

@Strauss At the risk of sounding all conspiratorial, I think you may be on to something. That possibility has crossed my mind too.

janbb's avatar

@Strauss I wouldn’t mind if that happened although I really want NY to drag him through the courts. But I think he really thinks he can stage a comeback and lead the party in 2024.

I just want to see the back of him.

Nomore_lockout's avatar

Well, at the end of the day. possibly (Ras)Putin will invite him to Moscow, or he will get an offer from Pillsbury Doughboy to find sanctuary in N. Korea.

cookieman's avatar

I don’t know, but I really hope the Secret Service/US Marshalls have to take him out in cuffs in front of the media.

I know it’s a bit evil of me, but I would really enjoy it.

Nomore_lockout's avatar

While we’re at it, and yeah I know this should probably be a separate question, but what are your thoughts on Trumps Space Force? Why do we need another branch of the military to handle a task that could come under the umbrella of the Air Force?

Call_Me_Jay's avatar

The Space Force isn’t a bad idea. It’s not any new activity, they just unified existing programs. Whether that creates a new layer of bureaucracy or gives them a more coherent strategy is the question. I don’t know enough to opine on that.

It is under the umbrella of the Air Force, like the Marines are part of the Navy.

Googling says they have not decided on ranks yet. For the time being they are calling the enlistees airmen. I hope they come up with something better. Spacemen may be too comical, but there must be something good.

Call_Me_Jay's avatar

My prediction is that after the January 5th election in Georgia, Trump will calm down (a relative term) and make public plans to leave Washington, but he will never stop griping about the “stolen election”. That is will be his schtick to keep fleecing the rubes.

gondwanalon's avatar

Perhaps Trump will resign on January 19th so President Pence can pardon him of all crimes he’s accused of.

chyna's avatar

^And I really wouldn’t mind that if he went away and was never heard from again.

Nomore_lockout's avatar

@gondwanalon Pence is alive? I always thought he was just a ventriloquists dummy.

Dutchess_III's avatar

He can only be pardoned for Federal crimes, not state crimes @gondwanalon. New York is all over him. I bet Florida is too.

misfit's avatar

He’ll go. I’m more worried about Trump Jr.. Trumpers are ready to support him for 2024.

Dutchess_III's avatar

They’re going to jail too.

Zaku's avatar

“Even Trump wont create an international embarrassment. Will he?”
– LOL. Four years too late for that!

Nomore_lockout's avatar

@Zaku That’s true but the spectacle of law enforcement going into the WH to remove a POTUS would be just too much!

janbb's avatar

@Nomore_lockout I hope whatever he does, he does it on the 20th, not the 21st. Otherwise it might get a little too cozy in the White House bedroom!

Nomore_lockout's avatar

So which day is the Inauguration? The 20th or 21st? I may have messed up on that…

janbb's avatar

The 20th. i had thought at one point that it was the 21st too.

Nomore_lockout's avatar

Cool thanks for the clarification : )

filmfann's avatar

He’ll slink out the day before, go down to Florida, and immediately start conning people out of their money to support his run in 2024, which he will never do.

Darth_Algar's avatar

Let him refuse to leave. White House security are more than capable of dealing with a trespasser.

LadyMarissa's avatar

He’s going to Russia to become the roomie of Eric Snowden!!!

Jeruba's avatar

He will make his departure as messy as he possibly can. Probably more so than we can even think of.

As for 2024, I can’t be the only one who thinks he’ll never risk another such loss. He’ll make a lot of noise about it, but he won’t have the courage to go through with it.

Patty_Melt's avatar

He’s ready to golf. If things go south, so will he, or to Scotland, the birthplace of golf.

Patty_Melt's avatar

Jr. Isn’t the one in training for 24. POTUS has been training Ivanka since his campaign began.
I would love to see her with Candace Owens for a running mate. It would kill Hillary to lose and then see a double woman ticket win, especially those two women.

Darth_Algar's avatar

@Patty_Melt

Scotland doesn’t want him around either.

chyna's avatar

Ivanka can not run the country.
She’s not qualified.

ragingloli's avatar

None of the drumpf clan were even remotely qualified for the positions they got right now.
Does not stop the drumpf cultists of openly advocating and welcoming a drumpf led monarchy.

Dutchess_III's avatar

According yo his supporters, what does being qualified have to do with anything?
And what is with their fixation, their obsession, with Hillary?

Nomore_lockout's avatar

I wonder about that myself. Second only to their fixation on Obama. @Dutchess_III

Call_Me_Jay's avatar

their fixation on Obama

Rudy’s drunk witness says that besides election fraud in Wayne County, Michigan, she also knows about how the Obamas created Covid-19.

I am not kidding.

Sept 9, 2020 – ”“This is what they do to Trump,” Carone said. “It’s not going to work with me. I won’t back down because I am very religious and I know God is watching over me. This started with COVID.”

She went on: “The Obamas funded that Wuhan lab to make COVID. Then the impeachment process.”

Dutchess_III's avatar

OMG! What an idiot!

Nomore_lockout's avatar

See what I mean? And people get the ass when I throw Jade Helm in their faces. You can’t make this shit up.

Call_Me_Jay's avatar

Sept 9, 2020

That should say Dec 9, 2020. It was reported today.

Darth_Algar's avatar

Wait…

You mean COVID wasn’t funded by Bill Gates and/or George Soros ?

elbanditoroso's avatar

@Darth_Algar Hillary made it in her basement, using the State Department server that holds all her emails.

Jeruba's avatar

The New York Daily News, not one of my usual sources, published an editorial half an hour ago with this punchline:

“Four years drunk on a demagogue’s lies have brought Republicans to a rock bottom of servility and humiliation.”

Strauss's avatar

@elbanditoroso Hillary made it in her basement…

…using blood form their child-porn slaves

janbb's avatar

^^ Remember when they talked about Pizzagate and we all laughed; now it’s become an acceptable part of Republican dogma.

Jeruba's avatar

I don’t remember laughing. One of the things that make crazies so dangerous is that they don’t recognize normal rules and boundaries. That makes them unpredictable, and so we don’t know how to keep ourselves safe from them. What Pizzagate told us is that those guys are in that category.

Nomore_lockout's avatar

All these Repubs are about to be arrested and reeducated, Even now, we are closing 7 11 stores coast to coast, so the rest rooms can be used as jails. We call it Operation Jade Crapper. Shhhhh!

JLeslie's avatar

No. I never thought it or believed it. When I heard it, and it’s been being said for years now, it reminded of people saying Obama would never leave.

To me it’s all scare tactics to divide us and they just use the same story with slight variations on both sides of the political spectrum. Same thing over and over. President won’t leave office, president wants to be a dictator, president is inappropriate with children, there are many examples. Same things again and again. Tit for tat.

I saw Trump say recently of course he will leave if he lost, and he said it in a way that to me was saying the rest of what he does is theater. Just wondering how many of the people who are actually afraid heard or read about that Q&A?

chyna's avatar

^I saw that, also. I think he will leave with a big fanfare, but not by being forced out by security. He does realize that will be recorded for history, and hopefully he doesn’t want to go out with a scuffle, but with a bang.

jca2's avatar

One of the papers (online) speculated yesterday that he will go to another country, to avoid prosecution by NY and where ever else he’s committed crimes.

I’m betting he’ll not risk getting arrested by the SS on his last day. That would be exciting (@ragingloli‘s comment made me laugh out loud), but I’m betting he’ll use the opportunity to 1. do something that’s more of a spectacle and 2. do something that’s more cowardly (like leave the country).

Good riddance to him. I am looking forward to the day when he’s not an everyday name on the news.

janbb's avatar

I read yesterday that Ivanka and Jared bought a big property in Florida and are planning to build a big house there. Good riddance to them too!

jca2's avatar

Hopefully Ivanka goes back to designing handbags for Republicans.

janbb's avatar

Jared has huge real estate holdings in my area unfortunately. He has pretty much “Miami Beached” one of our local oceanfronts.

JLeslie's avatar

@jca2 He said a couple of months ago he might leave the country. I couldn’t help but think an American president living in exile, it’s so third world.

Nomore_lockout's avatar

@jca2 LOL Spot on there.
