Is there a way to save meeting sign-in information on Zoom?

Asked by JLeslie (65416points) January 14th, 2021 from iPhone

I have some recurring meetings I attend and I always have to look up the zoom information or find the email with the link. Some of them have the same info every week and I was wondering if I can save it somehow when I’m logged in.

Thanks!

Good question. It seems to me like Zoom saves some of my meetings, but not others, and I don’t know what determines which ones it saves – maybe how the owner set it up, or whether they have a paid account or not (I don’t, and when I start a meeting it generates a new number each time). That is, I think maybe it will save it if the person has a fixed number to save (which might require them to have a paid account).

Of course, we could also copy the numbers to a text file, and cut and paste them when needed.

All the zoom meetings I attend the people have paid accounts.

Ok, let’s see… ok I mis-remembered a bit, but:

When I open Zoom, and click Join (Meeting), there is a field to enter the Meeting ID, and a little down-pointing chevron on the right of it which I can click to see a list of what look like the ten meetings I’ve joined most recently… six of them are my own now-useless meeting IDs that were temporary, but four of them are other people’s recurring meetings.

Does yours not have that behavior, or did you not know about it?

@Zaku Oh interesting. I’ve never noticed that. I’ll check later tonight when I’m on my laptop. Do you still need to enter the passcode though?

I maintain a calendar with time and URL with a reminder/alert. I set the alert for 20 minutes before meeting; that way if Zoom has an update I can run it before meeting. I use Apple Calendar but have Google calendar too (for my Android phone), they are connected. If aa code is required I put that in the notes of the reminder.

@Tropical_Willie I do that with some, just haven’t been very organized about it. I was hoping not to have to type things in and just have it all stored in my zoom. Seems like that would be a nice convenience.

When the alert pops up for the meeting; I go to calendar and I click on the Zoom meeting URL with meeting number already there.

I copy and paste the URL and passcode right to the calendar alert..

@Tropical_Willie Ah, right. I use my calendar in my phone, but I usually use zoom on my laptop.

Strap them together, my Apple laptop calendar has a Calendar setting for my xxxx@gmail.com on my phone.

I used to have it together and I hated it. Lol. Took me months to figure out how to stop it. Maybe I need to revisit it.

Keep the calendar on the computer with a separate “Calendar” for gmail to connect to your phone for special things.

@JLeslie “Do you still need to enter the passcode though?”
No, you just click on the meeting and it loads the passcode into the field.

I’m so excited to try it. Thanks! I’ll let you know how it goes.
