Is the difference between the Myanmar Army's coup and Trump's attempted coup that Myanmar is more competent?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33146points) February 2nd, 2021

Trumpies (both within and outside government) have been exemplars of incompetence and half-assedness.

Yesterday, Myanmar’s army took over the freely elected government and overthrew the elected leader. Quick, clean, no bloodshed – just a plain old Army coup.

Now compare that to Trump and his merry band of terrorists trying to overthrow the election and keep Trump is their leader. Utter failure, impeachment, jail time, the works.

Two questions:

Do you think that Trump is jealous that Myanmar’s coup succeeded and his didn’t?

Would a more competent group of terrorists been more successful on January 6?

I did think it was pretty rich that the USA condemned Myanmar for its coup.

Our army is not exactly reputed for its genius, but the idea that any man or woman could rise to the rank of officer and align themselves to follow an idiot the magnitude of Trump
in a coup attempt is hard to visualize.

The difference is that in Myanmar, the military is its own political faction, with political interests and, in addition to military power, political power.
What is similar, is that both the Myanmar military and drumpf used the same ‘justification’ for their coups: alleged voter fraud.
