Can asking for minimum wage put off one's job chances of for a famous fast food restaurant as a cashier?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24462points) March 22nd, 2021

I erroneously thought that if I asked for minimum wage that I would be more competitive.

I would rather ask to get $26 a hour part time.

I didn’t get the job.

Please don’t list the company that I applied to for I would like it to be anonymous.

Maybe it wasn’t the fact that you requested minimum wage, which is what is expected as a cashier at a fast food restaurant. Maybe it was the lack of experience on your part. Maybe someone else had applied that has worked at fast food before, and they hired that person.

@chyna Thanks. I was worried.

Yeah, at a place like that, negotiating pay is basically a non starter anyway. You get paid for your position at the established rate plus bonuses over time. I’m not sure that the subject of pay even needed to come up.

Maybe.

They’re not looking for competitive at a fast food joint. They’re looking for people who can follow simple directions. Pay negotiation is more for jobs that not just anyone can do.
