My first thought is “how much is that in US dollars”?

I think “Eighty Euro, followed strangely by a comma and an equals sign AND a parenthetical statement explaining that is eighty Euro. Hmm. I wonder if the question is about what I think about the comma followed by the equals sign? That is weird. I think it means someone doesn’t know what punctuation to use.”

alliteration

@Zaku FYI
“In most European countries, a comma is used to separate the integral part of a number from the decimal part. This means, for example, that three hundred euros and ten cents is written as 300,10—with a comma as a decimal marker.”

The € sign is so cool.

@janbb , How do the Europeans refer to the comma? Decimal comma instead of decimal point?

rebbel's avatar

@LostInParadise Decimal comma.
@Zaku I did forget to end my sentence correctly, you are right about that.
I do however know punctuation rules for both the Dutch (and more, but not all, European) language, and for (American)
English.

Still, interesting to read about your twists of thoughts concerning my question!

Hmm, my first thought was, “I could get a really nice dinner for that.” I hope it’s still true.

Let’s say in Amsterdam. Care to join me?

What are the things in Europe can I buy with that money.

@mazingerz88 For some reason that question set me to thinking about perfect croissants. There are 2 bakeries in this town that come very close. One opens at 6AM.

^^Butter and warm croissants. Gives life in early mornings meaning. Lol

Currency converter
80 Euro = $1.00 U.S.
80 Euro = $.67 CDN$

JLeslie's avatar

^^I think you mean $100 US. It’s actually probably slightly less right now.

I silently read it as “eighty Euro” and figure $100.
