I don’t think you can go wrong with a classic — Akira

Amazing animation, Cold War nuclear anxiety, Japanese street punk aesthetic. It’s pretty great.

Dragon ball and Sailor Moon are still really good gateways to anime. Their pacing can be a little slow sometimes, but they’re more accessible than a lot of anime. Akira is really good, but can be kinda hard to understand. Try FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood or Death Note, both are polished, exciting, and manageable.

Kimetsu no Yaiba.
The art-style and animation is impeccable.

Any of the Tenchi series.
Deathnote. (Which might be two words, as in Death Note.)

I think it depends on what you’re into?

Recently watched Avatar and Demon Slayer with my kid. But don’t think they’d be into Neon Genesis Evangelion. Which was probably my favourite when I started watching anime.

I’m not that into anime, in general, but the anime that I know I absolutely love. The show that got me into (some) anime was Sailor Moon (lol). The next one was Inuyasha. It’s unique in many ways in relation to most anime. There is a lot of content. It is so good and I have watched everything at least twice. Maybe I’ll go for a third rewatch.
