Do you hate to shower, love to shower, or--?

Asked by kneesox (4593points) August 17th, 2021

—or just do it because you have to, and don’t think about it one way or the other?

Long, hot, and soapy, or perfunctory and quick? or just practical and businesslike?

Perfunctory and quick.

I do not have a bathtub, so there is no other option.

Long relaxing warm to hot shower. Followed by a bath.

Both, depending on the circumstance.

I have a shower every morning as soon as I get up. I don’t really enjoy it. It feels more like a chore.

It feels like a chore to me too but the way I feel afterward is delicious!

I like showers fine, but they are a bit overwhelming for me… especially under times of high stress. Too much sensory input and washing my hair (weekly) is draining. I put it off as long as possible. I honestly dread showers, although I like the warm water on me fine. It’s everything else…

No longer than it takes to get clean. With my big family, wife, son, grand children, and at times our DIL, I can’t dilly dally and use all the hot water. I’d like to, but I guess it sux being me.

I’m with you, @Cupcake. Love the shower, hate all the peripheral stuff. It’s lovely sometimes to just be in the moment, like a gently warming or cooling event just before bed, with nothing more involved than toweling off after, but lordy, all the other stuff…ugh.

Love it. No accoutrements needed.
It’s another way to be nekkid and immersed in a water experience. Same as the pool or the hot tub.

I love to shower. Usually at night. Very hot water. I use tea tree mint shampoo and conditioner, shave in the shower, and get all soapy.

I could stay in there all day. It is very relaxing.

I only really enjoy showers when it’s hot outside. It feels great to get clean and fresh, especially after a whole day outside.

But when it’s not the middle of summer, baths are much more appealing to me. I love the feeling of sinking into hot water, that shivery sensation followed by total relaxation.

I didn’t have a bathtub from 2017–2020 (the dark ages), so I’m really into my bubble bath ritual at the moment. I have a soft bath pillow, I listen to music, I read my book and eat a cookie or something…can’t do all that in the shower.

Lately, since the pandemic, I usually shower twice a day, on days when I am out in public. If I just stay home all day, then it’s once a day. I don’t think of it as “love it” or “it’s a chore,” I just think of it as it’s something I have to do. I definitely enjoy the clean feeling afterwards. If it’s the second shower, when I’m ready for bed and feeling clean, I love it. If it’s the first shower and getting ready to go out, I feel like it makes me ready to see the world.

In the winter after canoe paddling 9 to 10 miles in freezing rain, wind and snow, a hot shower is the greatest.

When I was young I use to take quick showers. Get wet, turn off water, soap down then rinse. Done. I use to picture hot water as money going down the drain. Now that I’m old (and my time here is very limited) I enjoy watching the money going down the drain. HA!

Both, depends on my mood.

It’s pretty much a chore, and when I get out, that’s when the real work begins. Lotion, flossing and brushing, hair mousse or gel, combing and getting individual hairs sticking to me, clean ears, facial lotions and potions and creams, scrunch up hair so it dries halfway decent, then get dressed and sit in front of a fan. LOL

I don’t hate it or love it. I have to feel like it. I do love the warm water.
