Can high impact physical activity change settings on the Apple Watch?

Asked by gondwanalon (22872points) August 19th, 2021

I’m very active for a 70 year old male. I’ve noticed that a few times (since I’ve had the Apple Watch) that one or two settings on my Apple Watch are different from the way that I selected (and I did not change them).
Yesterday a friend called me twice but I didn’t get the call. He left a message to call him back. I looked at the settings on my Apple Watch and the bell was in off mode and it was on theater setting. My friend called while I was busy busting up cement with a sledge hammer and an impact drill.

Does your Apple Watch change settings seemingly on it’s own?
Do you know why?

It is possible, that because it is a touch screen, you are touching things and activating/turning stuff off without realizing. I have done similar to my smart watch.

I’m pretty sure all of the components are solid-state, so there’s nothing to “shake loose.” Like @SergeantQueen points out, it’s possible you inadvertently tapped a button on the touch screen. It’s also possible (though unlikely) that there was a software glitch.
