I see Fluther members aren’t football fans. I play but I’m heading to bed soon. I’ll fill you in tomorrow. :)

Yes I do.

Basically, you and other players are the ‘owners’ of the teams in the league, sometimes as few as 8 or 10, but usually 12–14, with 16 being less common. You draft players at the start of the season, and then each week, you pick which of your players ‘starts’, meaning which are active for you. Those active players earn points based on their statistical achievements for the week. Add up the points and the team you were playing against that week wins or loses based on you or they having more points from the starting players.

Then next week, you’re head to head against a different player, you make starting choices again from the pool of players on your roster and so on. At the end of the season, the best teams go into (typically) a 4-team playoff.

That’s the basics. It’s basically about predicting/guessing who will play best over the course of the year when drafting, and then for each week.
