Happy Days?

Asked by SuperMouse (30845points) September 13th, 2008

The play Happy Days by Samuel Beckett was assigned reading for my literature/theater class. I just finished and I must say this is one of the oddest things I have ever read. If you have read it or seen the play, I would be very interested to hear your take on it.

haven’t read Happy Days, but I did read Murphy and that was quite an odd one as well

So was Waiting for Godot, the reading of which, drove me crazy.

Most of Beckett’s stuff is pretty odd. He’s probably my favorite playwright. But when I watched Happy Days, I stopped paying attention before the end of the first act. I just couldn’t focus my attention. I’ve never tried to read it.

Did you like the Fonzie character?

@Jack, I was more of a Ralph Malph gal myself.

What’s funny is that when I read your post I thought you were referring to Henry Winkler playing the character of Willie in this play, I started picturing him crawling around a mound of dirt (which is pretty much all Willie does through most of the play), in his leather jacket.
