How would hamster size humans likely travel to space?

Asked by Ltryptophan (12091points) December 26th, 2021 from iPhone

How would humans only a few inches tall plan for space travel?

With towering rockets?

Would they wait for more compact fuel equipment to be invented, like nuclear?

With rockets that are currently used by human sized humans, only the hamster sized humans are now equipped with big dog sized telescopic pointer sticks, to push the several buttons.
They enter the rocket entrance by speeding up a human sized hamster wheel shaped ladder.

Hamster sized humans, like regular humans, would know that if nuclear powered rockets were used, they would poison the environment with radioactive rocket exhaust elements.
Otherwise, their rockets to space would be about one 24th the size of regular human space rockets.

I think, for the necessary thrust, they would need a conveyance the same size or nearly, as is in current use. The fuel is needed for the purpose of escaping Earth’s gravity, irregardless of passenger size. However, the interior would be miniature in seating, control panel, etc. That means there would be much greater room to fit several people, food storage, and such necessities.
How fun would it be to float out a tennis ball sized glob of water, and then propel yourself at it, scattering smaller globs everywhere? Better yet, several all at once, and everybody try to get one. It would be like a musical chairs but getting soaked.
Wheeeeee!

Yes @Patty_Melt!

They would be incentivized to send lots of astronauts wouldn’t they!

Maybe there would be large populations in space earlier on in their program.

Let’s just start with the statement that humans the size of hamsters would probably freeze to death very quicky, as we’d be unable to generate the body heat needed to keep us alive, due to the massively adjusted surface area to mass ratio.

Also, if the species always had to contend with getting eaten by birds, lizards and rodents, we’d probably find space travel very hard to prioritize.

Hamster size does not mean hamster level of intellect. Im sure that many aspects of life would be different, however, at our present size, we manage to keep bears and lions from eating very many of us.

Thinking on it though, I wonder how motivated we would be to venture to space. Teenagers could grab a couple of feathers when found on the ground, and fly, or at least glide. Lots of adventures not currently available to us might be exciting enough to not entertain thoughts of exploring space.
