What’s the most ridiculous opinion you’ve overheard in public?

Asked by rockfan (14627points) April 14th, 2022 from iPhone

I’m having breakfast by myself at Cracker Barrel and overheard the following conversation:

“You know how I know that Trump is a good, decent person? His entire family is extremely loyal. That’s a good attribute of a person. Even when sh** goes down, you always respect your family.”

I laughed so hard.

“The government is terrible…” While sitting in a municipal gym where the two ladies discussing government being all bad just enjoyed their daily water aerobics class.

“Trump is a religious Christian, I’ve heard him speak and I believe he is.” Lol. All I can say is I’m an atheist and I’ve heard him speak and he never impressed me as a religious man. I doubt he can quote a verse from the Bible or that he ever prays. Thinking Trump is religious and God loving or God fearing is mind boggling to me.

“They knew they couldn’t get people to line up to get into boxcars or ovens, so they created a lie and got people to line up for lethal injections”

“Just wait, they will see the truth soon, there will be Nuremberg trials for all the lies they told about covid and vaccines. If the Nuremberg laws don’t get them then God will.” They in this case is Fauci and leaders who closed businesses, made rules about mask wearing, and who recommended the vaccines.

The last two are Facebook posts and a constant sentiment from a friend of mine. She is completely brainwashed.

I can no longer chart the ridiculousness of things – my charts were broken by starting in 2016.

Probably the QAnon things, e.g. Trump is really a savior, so i switched from being a Bernie supported to a Trump supporter. Trump is trying to let us know through hints in his speeches and texts, that the government of California is using military space lasers to set fire to itself to get Federal relief money, but Trump saw through that so he denied the relief funds. Watch this YouTube video and you will see the evidence. Trump also created Space Force to reveal that we already have a Space Force, with an armada you can’t see because it’s hiding behind the moon, but with which Trump will protect us from the upcoming space alien invasion.

I once heard an American ask if they celebrated St Patrick’s Day in Europe.

JLeslie's avatar

@flutherother Not so crazy to me. Why would it be a given that any country celebrates St. Patrick bringing Christianity to Ireland except for Ireland? Plus, in Ireland or others parts of Europe is it a day to have parades and get drunk on green beer? It’s just a big drunken holiday in the US. Doesn’t seem very Christian to me.

Moreover, consider that Americans celebrate Cinco de Mayo and it’s barely celebrated at all in Mexico.

9/11 truthers saying it was an inside job, and there were no jets involved.

Another is Covid being caused by 5G signals.

@JLeslie Yes, but Ireland is in Europe so of course St Patrick’s Day is celebrated there. It is also celebrated to some extent in various other countries in Europe. It was not originally a US celebration as this person seemed to think, though maybe I misunderstood her.

@flutherother Oh, now I see! Lol. You could very well be correct in your assumption. The American in this case might think it’s a US celebration and have no idea who St. Patrick is. That’s very likely actually.

The Trump Cult is so ubiquitous in America, that I bet members of the Cult (and QAnon… same thing… same people) are responsible for 99% of the stupid things said in America, now.
