Should the Ukrainian people give up for now, and other countries take them in?

Asked by JLeslie (65412points) June 6th, 2022 from iPhone

I can’t bear watching them being slaughtered. If 30 million people leave will it demonstrate to the Russian citizenry that the Ukraine’s do not want to be part or live under Russian rule? Every country in Europe and parts of America just take in people.

At some point the people are more important than the land. They are getting murdered, Russia is gaining control. Ugh, I don’t have the stomach for it.

Sorry that I’m such a wimp, how do you feel about it?

Russia may not win !

Putin may get his “rosy red rectum” handed to him and his Russian Orthodox leader; they may both get put in front of a firing squad.

^^From your mouth to God’s ears. How long do you think it will take?

If Ukraine gave up, Russia would probably just attack another country. Putin wants to re-establish the old Soviet Union.

If the Ukrainians gave up and left, Russia would just come in and take over the whole country, and the way of life for each individual citizen of Ukraine would be gone forever – their home, their job, etc. They’d have to start from scratch elsewhere. It could be argued that starting from scratch would be a better alternative than death, but they might not end up dead if they stayed. It’s a gamble.

The people perhaps SHOULD be more important than the land, but the truth remains that in the REAL world the people are a renewable expenditure readily expendable at the whim of the state. There will always be more people. The land however is a different kettle of fish.

Putin is a thug and it is never a good idea to give in to thugs. The thuggery will only increase.

If anything I think it just demonstrates that they don’t want to be collateral damage/casualties of war, and they have no faith in Zelensky. He was an actor and comedian before becoming president, he doesn’t have enough experience to win a war against Russia. Putin is a highly intelligent, evil, piece of shit and he has nothing to lose at this point, it’s a dangerous combination.
