What would you do if you tested positive for Covid on Election Day?

Asked by rockfan (14627points) June 13th, 2022 from iPhone

Especially if you didn’t send in a mail in ballot.

I tested positive on Election Day last month, and it was the very first time I didn’t vote. I contemplated double masking and wearing a shield, but I decided not to risk it. What would you do?

I would double-mask and shield and sanitize the hell out of everything I touched, but I would go.

I’m grateful that Hawaii does all elections by mail-in ballot. What a conundrum that must have been for you.

This is exactly why I almost never wait until Election Day, because something can go wrong. I’m still stunned that NY didn’t have early voting until the covid situation.

That’s my personality though, I always am thinking something could screw up plans that are made; I like to have a cushion.

I would have worn a mask and shield and distanced and gone when it’s not very busy at my polling center (luckily I have that sort of flexibility) and I would have felt horrible about doing it. I would have rationalized that there were other people sick in the polling center and that people with covid are in hospitals and medical offices all the time.

I heard there are still some states that don’t have early voting.

I would put on two masks, glasses, wear long sleeves and long pants, and go vote. I think that everyone I know would go vote and protect themselves the best that they could.

Polls are a COVID nightmare anyway. I’d treat everything like it has COVID and I have COVID but I’d probably not test right before the election unless I’m going to cough up a lung.

I am currently testing positive for Covid. I tested positive while on an Alaskan cruise, while on Saint Rupert’s Island in Canada.
I delayed telling the ship’s medical officer the results of my test until after the ship left the port, for fear of being removed from the ship, and held in Canada.
There was a temptation not to say anything, but I felt that was irresponsible. First I told my wife, then my traveling companions. Then, after we left the port, I called the onboard medical office.
There is a temptation to hide it, enjoy the rest of the cruise, and deal with it after we disembarked.
Come election day, should I be infected, I will not vote. Why put all those people at risk?
That said, I will probably vote by mail.

Vote of course. In and out with the right mask.

Thankfully I always do mail in ballots. It’s easier and less stressful than being pressured to “hurry up” when standing in a poll booth. That being said, I would have double masked and shielded and went to the polls to vote. I would have done all I could do to be sanitary and stay socially distanced.
