If/when prosecuted for whichever of his crimes do you believe Trump will choose an insanity defense?

As a juror, wouldn’t you be forced to buy it?

No, his ego would never allow him to. That’s not his modus operandi.

“The jury was rigged – rigged I tell ya!”

In our state, insanity defenses don’t work. The person in question is sent to a mental hospital until well enough to stand trial.

Anyone who thinks they can get away with illegal acts by claiming insanity is crazy.

No but parr the course for him is to delay the proceedings..by having been diagnosed by a Psychiatrist, that would delay everything costing the taxpayer millions.

He is a “very stable genius.” Just ask him!
He will accuse the judge , jury, lawyers, etc. of being biased and Biden supporters. He’ll say the whole process is rigged. He will resort to character assassinations, name calling, “You know what we call her?... ”
He will delay , delay, delay, lie, lie, lie, deny, deny, deny,.,, even if there are recordings, witnesses, written documentation, cancelled checks for $130,000,...
It does not matter. Incredibly his die hard supporters will still be his supporters. .
(Although a fair number of previous supporters are waking up!)

Did you mean he will say the US is insane? I believe he will!

JLeslie's avatar

I doubt it. I don’t feel confident he will be charged with anything in the first place.

JPCarlos's avatar

I do not think he will. There are implications in terms of his business when he uses the insanity plea. Moreover, it would be weird to know that Americans put into office an insane person.

WhyNow's avatar

@JPCarlos Not to worry, Americans can counter by showing they put Joe Biden
in office. President Biden has good control of his faculties, very effective leadership,
and impeccable family business dealings!

Had another thought on this question.
Just because HE chooses to plead insanity doesn’t mean that it would be accepted by the Judge and Jury.

An anology of his behaviour on a much baser level:

Image a person who throws a handfull of rocks and continue doing that whenever he encounters confrontations.
All this is designed to bid for time as it enhances his feelings of controlling the narrative.

Thus that is Trump, it is what he was taught and he had never diverted from that tactic.

Soon however everyone will tire of his antics and cut to the chase.

Hopefully the Judges will cut through all that false bravado and put him in his place.

(LIKe Trumps father should had done years ago.

@Inspired 2write Just think about the long line of shrinks ready to diagnose the man as deranged. I mean even without a shrink, where are you going to find a jury free of anyone convinced the man is not a bonafide lunatic? There are only 2 categories in the jury pool: those so hopeless they STILL believe the lying pig won the election, and the rest of us. There’s no way I should be allowed on such a jury. There isn’t a shrink alive capable of convincing me the man is not deranged.
