If you regularly sweeten your coffee with one sugar packet have you tried using 30 ml, one ounce, of Coca Cola instead?

Asked by LuckyGuy (43689points) August 1st, 2022

I had a dribble left in a can and decided to pour it into my coffee. It sweetened the coffee the same way but there was an added creaminess. I did not notice any carbonation. I popped it in the microwave for a 20 second warm-up and it was delicious.
According to the Nutrition Facts label on the can, a single can of Coca Cola contains 39 grams of sugar. A sugar packet contains 3 grams or 3.5 grams so a can of Coke is like 11 – 13 sugar packets! Yikes!
It added a lot to my day-old coffee.
Have you tried it?

Did you mean to include the word “Coke” in your main Q?

That is an awful lot of sugar. And I bet you cannot easily dissolve that much granulated sugar in an 8 oz. cup of coffee or even in a 12 oz. mug.

no. I use one packet of Stevia daily. No other sugar additives.

Honey for me in my coffee. Cola’s are so full of sugar (HFCS) because they also have salt in them. yuck!

I use artificial sweetener in my coffee or tea because it melts so much easier than granulated sugar. I know some people will say artificial sweeteners are terrible for you, but sugar isn’t that good for you, either.

I have never tried putting soft-drink in coffee, no.

I use little or no sugar in my coffee at home, since I’ve found coffee I like so much that it’s delicious even with just milk.

@canimajor Yes! I meant to write ”... 30 ml, one ounce, of Coca Cola, instead?”

I was shocked when I actually looked at a can and saw how much sugar it contained.
I am not a big soda drinker but had a few left over from a July 4th party so I’ve been experimenting. A full can contains more sugar than I would add in a month!
I wonder if it could be used for baking.

I never was a coffee drinker and I gave up caffeine over 20 years ago. My caffeinated drink of choice was Coca-Cola. I can totally see how a little Coke in coffee might be delicious. I love coffee ice cream and mocha cakes, and Coca Cola cake. I’m going to try your concoction out of curiosity the next time I have Coke in the house, which might be a while.

I think you could market it as a college dorm drink

Coke has just about the same amount of sugar as orange juice.
