Do you know any songs which mention the rain in them?

Asked by RayaHope (7448points) August 14th, 2022

It’s been a rainy day today and I was thinking “How many songs have something about the rain in them?” The song doesn’t have to be about rain, just in it somewhere.

“Raindrops keep falling on my head”. Theme to the old movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

I can extemporaneously think of a few.

One is Singin’ in the Rain.

I’ll trade your rain for my dry and heat fore shore!

@Brian1946 I can’t even pronounce“extemporaneously” lol

Another one is Who’ll Stop the Rain? , which mentions your state:

“I went down Virginny, seekin’ shelter from the storm”

“I’ll take you in from getting wet.”

That’s so sweet of you. :)
But if it’s a summer rain, you can leave me outdoors until I reach spiritual rehydration.

@Brian1946…and then after that? Maybe I’ll come out and join you :)

*22 YO Brian/ It would be wonderful if you did.
We could dance and sing in the rain.
Is there a beach near where you live? /22 YO Brian*

*When I was in the Navy, we were ported in Norfolk during the summer of ‘69.

One of the bitchinest beaches I went to was La Orchila Island, which is just north of the coast of Venezuela.

First song that came to my mind is from the Weather Girls, Its raining men It was very popular, way, way back when I was young.
Purple rain by Prince
I wish it would rain by the Temptations
Here comes the rain by the Eurythmics
I had a hard time remembering this one because the lyrics isn’t in the title but I use to listen to it a lot when I would feel sad. Fleetwood macs Dream.
Let it rain over me, by pitbull (is currently one of my favs.

@Pandora

That’s an excellent tune, and probably the most powerful vocal performance of any 80’s song.
It was like a collab of Aretha & Patti LaBelle.

@Brian1946 I remember that song got you on your feet dancing in no time. I would be at the club dead tired and sat down and if that song played I had to get up.

@RayaHope I love this question. Songs bring back so many good memories. Even some sad ones, but some songs were very therapeutic during difficult times.

Someone should start a music thread, or favorite songs thread.

A favorite sentimental song of mine. I Always Get Caught in the Rain by Dionne Warwick.

There’s that part in the instrumentation ( trumpets I think ) when every time I hear it, it snatches up my soul then quickly drowns it into the deep and cold waters of bittersweet nostalgia.

RayaHope I would walk in the rain with you anytime. We wouldn’t be able to see
each other. We wouldn’t even know where we are! But we’d be alive!
