How much Adam's Extract Imitation butter flavoring should I use for replacing one tablespoon of butter?

Asked by AsksQuestions (110points) August 28th, 2022

I’m trying to use imitation butter flavoring. The suggestions on the bottle don’t give very much information. Therefore, how much Adam’s Extract butter flavoring should I use for every tablespoon of butter?

What are you making? The answer might depend on that.

“Flavoring” and “extract” imply it is not a butter substitute and is condensed, with small amounts producing lots of flavor.

The first couple of Google hits suggesting using teaspoons, not tablespoons like actual butter.

H-E-B Grocery says ‘Try adding 1 tsp. to a packaged cake mix for extra flavor or 1 tsp. to water before adding one cup of rice.’

I am guessing here (I am not a baker and hope some bakers to chime in) that oil or shortening would replace butter at 1:1 ratios, with a little butter extract for the flavor.

Well, I’m a baker but the OP has to answer what they intend to do with it before a response can be given.
