What are some popular children's television shows?

Asked by LostInParadise (31905points) November 13th, 2022

I do not have a television or children, so I have lost touch with what they watch. The last shows I recall are Barney the dinosaur and the Arthur cartoon. When I was a kid, there were a whole slew of shows. I am sure other seniors on the site will recall such shows as Romper Room, Howdy Doody, Wonderama and Rocky and Bullwinkle, just to name a few off the top of my head.

Happy Tree Friends was a show I liked a lot.

They change every few years, but Dora is popular and Peppa Pig are also popular. There are probably newer ones that are popular. Google “Nickelodeon shows” for the most recent.

Octonauts. Shawn the Sheep.

I think TV watching has changed so much with streaming that it is hard to identify what shows are popular. My granddaughter gets to watch a half hour of television at a set time each day so they turn on a streaming service and she chooses from any number of short offerings.

One set of my grandkids (ages 7 and 6) watch Minnie Mouse and dance videos.
A different set watch K-Pop, Peppa Pig, Dinosaurs, and Pixar movies.

My nephew loves Paw Patrol! It’s about a group of puppies who rescue those who need it.

Our 7yo loves Octonauts.
But probably watches more
YouTube than television.

Random stuff like Mr. Beast
or unboxing videos.

They don’t watch TV. They watch youtubers and play Roblox.

Peppa Pig is very popular over here with the younger generation. I remember liking “Popeye” “Whirlybirds” and the “Lone Ranger” as a kid

Peppa was really popular with my girl when she was about 4 too. Not quite sure why.

SpongeBob and Phineas and Ferb

Speaking of Spongebob, did you know that Spongebob, Vegeta, and Steve Urkel have the same voice actor?

Thanks all. I will have to check these on the Web to see how tastes have changed over the years. I forgot that there is a fairly recent show that I checked out, Marcel the Shell, which struck me as a bit odd. I find it difficult to relate to a character based on a shell exterior as opposed to an animal living inside a shell.

@LostInParadise I saw the full length movie they made of Marcel the Shell. I wasn’t enamored of it but I also don’t know that it or the shorts are really aimed at children.
