Any good streaming recommendations?

Asked by Entropy (4172points) November 28th, 2022

I have some stuff I plan to watch, but they’re releasing episodes right now so I can’t binge them yet. I need something to bridge the gap.

I prefer stuff with sci-fi elements, but that isn’t necessary. Comedies that aren’t too schticky or sitcomm-y are welcome. Just really looking for something enjoyable. Doesn’t have to be recent. Doesn’t have to be series-over either, as long as I have at least one full season to watch.

Suggestions?

Quantum leap and its new reboot.

You was very good; psychological thriller with 3 seasons and a 4th coming out in early February. Also Ozark with Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, 4 seasons, crime drama involving cartels. The Sinner and, of course, Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad.

Sorry, but none of those is even close to sci-fi, but they’re very good and have been extremely popular.

Against all odds and expectations, the new “Andor” show is excellent.

Resident Alien is on Bravo, Peacock, and other streaming services.
Season one is fantastic. Season two started slow, but got better.
It’s sci fi/comedy.

If you haven’t seen Avenue Five, that also is very entertaining.

“Search Party”, on HBO Max. It’s a dark thriller-comedy in the vein of Alfred Hitchcock, while also being a funny satire of pop culture and millennials. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea though. While I think the first season is incredible, I recommend not watching the last two seasons, they’re not very good. The show completely jumps the shark. But the first two seasons play out like one full miniseries.

I second @ragingloli – Andor was great!

I just finished the latest season of Outlander and it was great. I also watched The Swimmers which was surprisingly good. I started it accidentally but never wanted to turn it off.

Depending on your preferances, I enjoyed Wednesday (Adams) on Netflix. If you want a bit more intellectual, 1899 is interesting, also Netflix.

Your criteria made me think of “Raising Dion”. The first season was well-made, haven’t seen the second.

@KNOWITALL I just read about 1899, from the creators of Dark, which was fascinating. It’s on my list.

@kruger_d Just remember the first four are the set up, it gets better. :)
