Would appointing moderators who only have to deal with spam, be a viable solution?

This current deluge of MAGA spam is particularly annoying to me, and I’m sure it has the same effect on at least some other jellies.
I think we’d see less of it, if there were more mods to deal with it.
What I propose, is a group of mods who only have to deal with spam and spammers.
We would have the tools to moderate spam, and TEMPORARILY deactivate any spammer accounts.
The final decision on spam and spammer accounts, would still be up to the Big Three.

What I find primarily annoying about spam floods is seeing 20+ messages in my Activity folder, and finding out that most of them are spam.
What I’ve been doing in these circumstances, is going to the recently active threads, but marking the D Jones Locker flotsam as All Read, even though some of them might be legitimate replies.
Oh I was wondering what was going on! So this is MAGA spam? every-time I check it has already been deleted but the box remains letting me know it was spam.

LOL there’s MAGA spam? Wow, I’ve been missing out! I don’t see any sign of it. I wonder how I’ve been immune.
@Zaku According to the post below this one, you have 4200 in your activity box, so no wonder you’ve been missing out! You’re not immune, you’re just not reading them! :D
@smudges Hmm. If I look at my Activity For Me, it looks like it’s nearly endless links to threads with activity since I “followed” them by answering them. Even ones I’ve checked up on since that activity. Is there a later place (thousands of links down, in my case) where it’d show me the spam?
Not that I know of. Oh jeez…it just occurred to me! Spam doesn’t show up in “Activity for Me”. nevermind, says Gilda
Spam does show up as “Activity for You” if it’s a thread you posted on before.
@Zaku You can mark all your activity for you as read and then they’ll be gone until the next time someone posts spam or a legit answer on that thread. I never have tons of Activity built up although the Spam does accrue.
Woa, I’ve been away for a while. What just happened? I don’t know what’s going on but I figured it wasn’t a pretty sight. Were the spams hateful?
I wish activity for you would be cleared once the accounts are marked as spam. Went through 100+ New Activity notifications recently. Most of it was spam.
^^ I don’t get how people can get 100’s of New Activity notifications. The most I’ve ever gotten was maybe 20. Normally it’s just 3–8. <|8O
@smudges I don’t get it either. I get a few every day and go to look at them. If I’m not interested in that Q any more, I post “Stop following.” It must mean they never look at the activity for questions they’ve posted on.
