Women who are divorced or widowed: is it easier for you to make decisions now?

Asked by JLeslie (65418points) February 22nd, 2023 from iPhone

Now that you no longer have a spouse, do you feel freer and more confident in your ability to make fairly big decisions? Or, is it harder for you now, feeling the whole burden of making decisions? No change?

No change. My ex didn’t want to grow up and make decisions, so I made all the decisions anyway.

@Dutchess_III But you are married now even though you have been divorced. I think the OP means women who are single now. She can clarify.

To answer the question, I would say in general it’s easier for me now but it’s been an evolving process over the last decade since I’ve been on my own. I’ve always deliberated a lot before making decisions and my Ex is more decisive so I might have gotten railroaded, or leaned on him more when we were married. Now, I like being able to make my own decisions and feel much stronger but there are times when I miss having someone to hash things out with. I have a great group of friends though that I can share with at times.

Still no no change @janbb. I make the decisions, then and now.
