Are you ever happy to see some stuff that has been moderated?

Asked by Dig_Dug (4249points) March 20th, 2023

I know I am, especially when it’s not only my stuff. Because I know it’s not only me that screwed up!

Yes.

Because spam and bullshit are not building blocks of a healthy diet.

And you don’t need a Ph.D to know when someone is suspiciously full of it!

When it’s spam, yes, but that’s to be expected.

When it’s some problematic stuff, yes, because generally stuff gets moderated because the rules are being enforced properly. I try to make sure to follow the rules, so when my things get moderated it’s either because of some misunderstanding of my part, or because my posts are related to a modded post so it makes sense for my posts to go too. It’s rarely because I engage in some troublesome behavior with others.

I’m happy because I like to see the rules being enforced, not because I’m happy I’m not the only one to screw up. The mentality of “at least I’m not alone” is not how I want to improve as a member and a person.

I usually am.

One was a swarm of spam consisting of MAGAt propaganda, which I was really glad to see exterminated.

Another was a post that was a 2— or 3-word phrase repeated about 1,000 times.
Even though it was in Social, I flagged it for being off-topic, because it was basically a large meaningless blight in the thread.

@Brian although I’m glad to see the MAGA spam gone, a morbid part of me is really curious what it looks like :P

I think they were basically commercials for Trump, with some forgettable graphics.

Thanks. I think it’s a blessing I didn’t see it. Otherwise I would die of boredom.

Sometimes I wish more stuff were moderated.

It’s always good to know that the flush function of a toilet is working.

@janbb: I agree. I think of Augustlan and how a lot of times, when people got nasty with each other, she would gently reprimand them on the thread while modding stuff off at the same time. It was a great reminder for Jellies to mind their manners and try to be more diplomatic.

She would often say “flame off, folks.”

Usually. Sometimes. It removes a bit of why I ask certain questions, or push certain things. I often try to illicit genuine responses. Often. That can be considered flame-bait. But. I don’t mind seeing someone get pissed, if there is some contribution to the subject. Some subjects are going to cause passionate responses.
Other times. I come back to a thread, and find a string of multiple moded responses, and wonder what happened…

At any rate. I respect the site, and will acquiesce to whatever is desired of me. Being a jelly is a privilege. Not a right...:)

Sometimes I ask for my own responses to be moderated. I appreciate the time that our moderators give to this community.
