What was the first dance at your wedding?

Asked by Acrylic (3358points) April 19th, 2023

Ours was I Love to See You Smile by Homer and Marge Simpson. Neither of us could dance, so we decided to go with this since they’ll be laughing at us anyway, may as well help them along.

We didn’t have any dancing at our wedding. It was a lovely small wedding with the ceremony at a registry office in England and a “wedding breakfast” at his Nana’s apartment.

Also none, we got married at the courthouse and ran off to Mexico for awhile. Haha!

I’ll let you know if I ever get married.

Our first dance was to “A Whole New World”, from the animated Aladdin.

A Whole New World. Here is a link from the movie with the lyrics subtitled. I think my band sang it better than the two in the movie.

We considered a Karen Carpenter Song and an Elvis song. Our band leader seemed relieved we went with something more recent, not sure why. I got married in the early 1990’s.

@cookieman I have never met someone else who also had A Whole New World as their first song :).

We danced to a song by Mariah Carey that my ex picked out. It wasn’t notable to me.

I was married in a Baptist Church with a reception there in the Church, so there was no dancing. People who went to that little Church from my childhood who wanted dancing just would have the reception somewhere else or after the reception go somewhere to dance. We didn’t care about dancing, we just wanted to get married and get out of there. Once we survived that “line” that they make the bride and groom stand in so fat ladies can hug you and kiss your new husband on the cheek…and I threw my bouquet….and we cut the cake, we took off.

No dancing – after being married in the church, we and the guests went to my parents home and had the reception on the lawn. Beautiful spring day and roses were in bloom…May 9.

A Beatles song, sadly I don’t recall which. My (ex) wife planned everything and I rode along. We were married in a beautiful hotel ballroom – ceremony, dinner and dancing all in the same room.

After years of no contact we have been talking on the phone & texting lately. It’s pleasant. We’ve dropped all contention and connect on the mutual interests we shared.
