If Biden had remained the Dem. nominee, would Trump's margin of victory been larger or smaller?

As asked.

It would’ve been a wash, for sure. The problem is that Kamala was seen as Biden 2.0, and a majority of Americans did not want that.

Larger.

Today, analysts were saying one of the problems is that Kamala was saying she’s not Biden but yet when asked what she would do differently, she couldn’t elaborate.

I don’t know. I think Harris was just a bad candidate. She was unwilling to honestly answer very important questions without going into gobbledygook or “word salad” nonsense. In my view (and apparently many others too) she was a two dimension candidate in that she presented as a bold and powerful politician but it was only a facade. Look at her from the side and there was nothing there other than Trump is evil and woman’s health issues.

Biden has serious issues too of course.

Sad situation for the Democratic Party being stuck with those two.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Biden is and has been in cognitive decline. It was finally admitted after the debate with Trump. That performance showed what has been happening for a long time and being covered up. That deception could have caused a greater gap. But Biden was more likeable than Kamala. Kamala was never supposed to be the Dem’s nominee and I fully believe that Joe Biden endorsed her as a final “fuck you” to those that ousted him from the race. That endorsement left no other options for someone else to walk in cold…legitimately. Kamala did zero press conferences, went for over a month before even doing softball, scripted interviews. None of her answers held any substance. She never did lay out her standards, values, plans or policies for the futures…nothing. Every speech changed depending on who she was talking to. Often her accent changed just as quickly. She showed herself to be an empty suit that thought the American public was too dumb to notice and that her uber-rich friends would carry the day.

The choice you are asking is would the choice between someone with dementia or someone that is an obvious puppet was a better choice to vote for as the leader of the free world.

Biden couldn’t put two sentences together (as shown at the debate). At least Harris had a fighting chance and the popular vote results were close.

I think he could very well have won.
Not only do you have to consider that Harris was basically a last minute tag-in candidate, but also the fact that your country remains deeply racist and sexist.
And how much would Biden’s alleged cognitive decline really have mattered, considering the fact that the Orangutan becoming completely demented and unhinged in his campaign did nothing diminish his chances?

No, they still would have cheated.

Who knows. Maybe he could have won Pennsylvania. After the Democrats and media were all over Biden he had to go, there was no overcoming it. I do think Harris maybe inspired some Democrats to come out and vote who might not have otherwise.

I’m surprised Harris did as well, as she did.
Trump has a base, that has been following him like a lost puppy, since 2016. Harris had 3 months, and I can’t think of another time when someone would have gotten almost half the votes with such little preparation. In that regard, Trumpers should be extremely concerned.

Harris was far too little, FAR too late. I doubt they would run her again, (if there are future elections.) That just tells me, the DNC didn’t really think she was ready either…

Knowing that the DNC had 8 years to find a single realistic candidate, (OR put Trump in prison,) but failed doesn’t inspire much hope for the future.

I know that the DNC must have smarter, better people than me, but I cannot appreciate any type of strategy here.

@LifeQuestioner Are you an election denier?

jca2's avatar

I’m wondering if any part of Harris is resentful of Biden, that if he stepped aside sooner instead of waiting until the 11th hour, she might be a winner.

seawulf575's avatar

@jca2 I think the powers behind the throne purposely had Joe drop out when he did. What they didn’t count on was having him endorse Kamala. I truly believe Obama wanted Michelle O to be the one they voted on at the convention.

Michelle hates politics, it’s well known. So tired of Republicans, Democrats, and unaffiliated bringing her up. It’s not happening.
