For Vegans, while possible, most just don’t. It takes careful planning and despite what they’ll say, they’re not usually doing it. They’ll argue there is plenty of protein in the foods they eat, and while true, it’s not the same. Most are also going to be deficient in one or more important nutrients like omega 3, D and B12. They’re also usually having issues with depression as a result.
Not so much a problem for regular vegetarians, especially lacto-ovo vegetarians. They get enough if they’re eating eggs and dairy regularly.
Vegans – no eggs – no honey – no cow’s milk !
A vegetarian can eat eggs.
I was referring to vegetarians.
absolutely. We also need far less proteins that you think.
It’s the fat we don’t need so much.
I’m a long-time vegan, and my health and energy are excellent.
It’s very easy to consume enough protein. Most foods contain amino acids, of differing compositions; a varied, well-balanced diet will provide what’s essential. Some plant foods, such as soy products (tofu and edamame) contain all 9 necessary amino acids.
Also, as @Forever_Free posted, humans need much less protein than generally believed. The meat, dairy, and egg industries have conducted some very effective marketing campaigns.
I’ve never had a protein deficiency far as I know. And I’ve been vegetarian since 1988.
I get all the protein I need from cheese, black beans, and pinto beans. (And yeah I know cheese has salts and fats, which in excess lead to heart trouble). But there’s no protein deficiency as far as me and my doctor can tell.
