My External Hard Drive Seems to be Dead!

Hello all. I have an external hard drive that is no longer showing up on my computer. When I manage to get it to show up (turning it off and on again seems to work) it reads corrupt. This is a bummer as it hold ALL of my music. Any ideas about how to get the music out of there or is is lost forever? ANY help is appreciated.
