He’s leaving out the important factor of foreign investment and the value of the dollar which are crucial to understanding trade deficits. It’s basically a zero sum game, so for every dollar in trade deficit, your country will receive that same dollar back in the form of a foreign investment into its economy. Furthermore, the stronger your country’s currency is, the harder it is to sell stuff to other countries, so if you want to do a lot of exporting, that would mean you want your currency to be weak.
Yes, it’s correct.
The US imports more goods and services than it exports. The US effectively exports US dollars to make up this difference.
What other countries do with these excess US dollars is to buy US bonds, so they show up as creditors. Cue lots of stupid hysteria about China owning the USA and supplying the US with dollars.
Trump wants the US to be more of an autarky, because he doesn’t understand things and is stupid. The internal economic problem in the US isn’t a relative lack of exports or manufacturing jobs—it is vast levels of inequality.
He is dead on. That is what I was taught when I took Foreign Trade as an Econ major in college.
Trump would impose tariffs to make Canadian products more expensive. The US consumer would be paying more, while the Canadian economy would suffer. Trump wants to create a lose/lose situation.
Trump keeps spouting theres a 100 to 200 hundred billion deficit, and in reality there is only about a 40 billion, and that makes sense seeing the states is 10 times the population of Canada.
The US buys more than Canada buys; therefore deficit !
Trump I thinks wants to isolate the US from the rest of the World and if he can’t isolate charge imports with tariffs . . (which Trumps thinks the money goes straight to him in the White House ~. ~ ~ ~ ).
But when the Felon47 says the us is subsidizing Canada because of the trade deficit is a total LIE.
Remember @SQUEEKY2 if THE convicted felon’s lips are moving he is lying !
If he does accordion hands, he’s saying things he knows are false => 100% false. If he’s just rambling, some real fact might get pulled in inadvertently => <100% false.
