Panic attack.
They are miserable. The first one I had I thought I was dying. I could not breathe, I was lightheaded, my heart was racing. I was scared.
A panic attack lasting 30 minutes? I would be exhausted after. They are emotionally taxing. And the physical effects are way worse.
Hyper ventilating, sobbing, shaking. I rock back and forth. I feel weak. I don’t get them much anymore, I am on meds now. But I would not wish panic attacks on anyone
Hiccups I’d have a sore chest. I am not sure the long term effects of 1 hour of hiccups though.
As much as I hate hiccups, panic attacks are horrible. The feeling of not being able to catch your breath is terrifying.
It’s interesting you asked this because I was just afraid I might be on the verge of one.
I have PTSD, and anxiety/panic attacks occasionally.
I’d take almost anything, over the attack…
Hiccups, because of Fluther, are not a problem for me. Years ago, someone recommend swallowing a whole spoonful of something viscous (chocolate spread, peanutbutter, etc). This always works for me. In fact, I have now also learned to relax my diaphragm and resolve hiccups like that.
If I had to choose, I’d pick hiccups. They’re annoying, but not terrifying. And with a panic attack, time stretches because you feel like you’ll never be okay again.
Panic attack – - I’ve had hiccups for 30 hours over 50 years ago. My friends that worked at the hospital wanted to take me to the E.R. after 8 hours and then again after 24. I went to sleep with them and work up with them . . .
Panic attack is too intense.
Not even a question – anxiety and PTSD have caused me to have a panic attack literally during sex a couple of times. I was sure I was going to die if I didn’t get the person’s weight off of me. It felt like I was being pushed down into a grave. It was horrible.
I get hiccups several times daily and have had them wake me up from a sound sleep many times over the years. They’re annoying, but I’d take them over a panic attack.
Never had a panic attack, but seen a few and helped the person work through it.
Panic attack is scary stuff.
I’d take a year of hiccups over a 5-minute panic attack.
That’s not even apples to oranges. It’s apples to an entire fucking orchard of oranges.
