@Caravanfan (((HUGS))) I wouldn’t be able to handle death. That’s why I want to be a career counselor.
Thanks for sharing.
Sending you a hug and gratitude for the work you do to make this world that much better.
Another hug from this jelly.
It’s part of the job.
That’s why it takes, special people.
Being a first responder, is no fun either.
You help who you can, work on constantly improving, but never let it get past controlling what you can control.
Maybe you could use a vacation.
A LOT of medical people, are completely burned out.
But honestly, we need you wherever you are. We need you to understand, that to save some, you will lose some.
Maybe walk by the paternity ward, once in awhile. Keep that perspective you know, that life comes too.
Most importantly, be REALLY selfish, with your you time.
When you’re able to completely disconnect, do it.
Play your Banjo, laugh with friends. Live.
If you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t help others. Right?
You have my respect, and many thanks.
I watch hospice nurse Julie on TikTok, I imagine your line of work is worse as its often unexpected. Much respect to those in the healthcare field.
Regardless of any disagreements on specific issues politically, I respect you very much.
I was a clinical lab technologist for 38 years. I witnessed how doctors worked in ICU, CCU, ER and the morgue. Unlike the “Shrubs” video given above, I never saw a doctor get emotional about anything. Was sent to the ER once to draw blood on a patient there. Doctors there were trying unsuccessfully to restore the heart beat of a patient. Injecting epinephrine directly into the heart and hitting it with electric shocks. After a short while one doctor nonchalantly asked, “Anyone else have any ideas? No? Then let’s break for lunch.”
Doctors have to compartmentalize and separate their feeling from the trauma they deal with and keep moving on.
You cannot overestimate how much you are valued by patients for doing your best.
Just watched the video you linked to. I can’t imagine the stress and pain…....
I am grateful for what you do.
