Who's been eating my candy (read details)?

I cleaned out my freezer recently and found 4 English candy bars that I had bought from a specialty store. I brought them up to defrost them and see if they were any good. I put them in a small kitchen drawer. I took a bite from one and left them in the drawer which closes tightly. When I looked again, they had been mostly eaten and there were small scraps of wrapping in the drawer. No mouse droppings.
Who snuck into a closed drawer and ate my candy?

When I was about 2, my fae family crept out of the woods and exchanged me for a regular human baby. As a result, I have some special powers, which include sneaking around in the night stealing especially lovely candy bits from people.
Thank you, and sorry.
Can the bears prove their whereabouts during this time period?
Ooh, yeah, it was the bears. Let’s go with that.
But, but, but – do bears have opposable thumbs to open the drawers?
Do penguins sleepwalk ? ? ?
I see your point but it would have had to be a rather small bear.
Mickey is coming out, eating his snack and going back into his hole.
Have any humans been in the house?
Are the wrapping materials all there, or mostly missing?
If no humans, then maybe a constipated rodent coming from inside the cabinet.
Your favorite blond funguy- Moldilocks.
@janbb Aren’t your resident bears (of picnic fame) pretty little???
One doesn’t need opposable thumbs to open a drawer – you can just use your pinkie or forefinger or whatever.
Once about 20 years ago, I had a bag of rice in the cabinet, that had a rubber band around it to keep it closed. One day I found the empty bag with the rubber band around it and not a speck of rice to be found. Now I keep any food like that in plastic or glass containers.
@jca2 So do I since I had grain beetles, ants and mice. But this was wrapped and in a small closed drawer. It’s a mystery.
@jjanbb I get mice in closed drawers, too. I don’t know how they get there, since it would require climbing up the inside of the lower cabinet, but I guess they’re either clever or athletic, or both.
Living in the country, it’s a constant battle between man and beast.
@janbb Do you walk in your sleep? ;^)
Mice disappear through walls. It is amazing the small cracks they can get through.
@smudges I don’t think so but if I had, I wouldn’t have left little shredded bits of wrapper as evidence!
@JLeslie I suspect mice too but as someone said, look for droppings and there are none.
@janbb Have you looked for droppings anywhere else (pantry, corner of the kitchen, etc.)?
I had mice eat some candy in an unused room a while back. They can get through ridiculously small gaps, the width of a pencil, except they’re very flexible pencils. If there’s any way to get in underneath or in the back of the cabinet, they can climb up through there. Mine shredded the wrappers, ate the chocolate, and left no droppings. I know it was mice because I found droppings nearby. Check the edges of the room; they travel along the walls. I cleaned that room very well and with a mask, then poured some vinegar concentrate by the suspected entry (crack in floorboards). Haven’t had any problems since, though I’m more careful about food storage.
(What did you have, Crunchies?)
@longgone Yeah, must be mousies. It wss Picnic bars. Saved me some calories.
If you were closer, I’d loan you my dog. Hunting mice is her calling (and she’s never been successful, much to her chagrin).
I love Cadbury.
I often have soirees with the micr who live in the basement.
Frost goblins! It’s gotta be the frost goblins!
Maybe it’s the Borrowers?
I loved the movie ! ! ^^^^^^^^
^^^^ Me too! The one with John Goodman, not the newer one! Still watch it when it comes on at times.
Pretty sure it was mice. There were a few tell tale signs in my recycling bin under the sink. I hate to call the exterminators out but I will have to.
