So how soon before China takes Taiwan as we spiral down the drain?

Since Trump has shown the world that the US cannot be counted on for ally support, I figure China will make a bold move towards Taiwan. Especially since Trump has increased tariffs to China and capturing Taiwan will further enrich China, and China can increase it water territory as well. I don’t see a downside for them. Trump would be seen as terrible by his MAGA crowd if he drags us into a war over Taiwan (because they don’t understand how important Taiwan is to the US), so he will just roll over while saying he is strong and saving American lives.
No doubt there will be another show, of course. Taiwan what can you give to us to guard you? Taiwan can say that it will give everything, and he will claim that they were disrespectful and that he wants peace and hands over Taiwan to China.

Soon as they make sure trump and his voters agree on a price for them to take what they already believe belongs to them. The price for not interfering. Same deal Putin got with trump and his voters.
Well, they violated treaty and took over Hong Kong, during Trump’s last term, and the scumbag has generally found himself completely unable to achieve kind of foreign policy win, and has never been good in a crisis, plus he’s a liar and a cheat and a rapist, which isn’t strictly applicable except that it shows him to be a person who acts with ill intent and doesn’t care about outcomes for anyone other than himself, so that perspective is idiotic.
I’m generally of the mind that China, for all it’s bluster, is much weaker militarily than it would have you believe. Not that they couldn’t win a protracted ground war in Taiwan, but it wouldn’t be as easy as all that, and the many frailties of their leadership and economy would be laid bare. They would rather just increase pressure, exert political influence, using espionage, kidnapping, corruption and propaganda, and hollow Taiwan out from inside.
There are rumors that China has a 2027 takeover plan.
