The US sentencing guidelines for her offenses call for at least 70 and not more than 87 months. She got 72 months plus 5 years supervised release. This case was resolved by plea bargain, which is probably what bumped her sentence down to the lower end of the range.
Considering that the maximum recommended sentence is just over seven years, I don’t see any reason to think things would have gone radically different had the genders been reversed. She still faces other state charges, by the way.
just to clarify,
according to your article, she hasn’t even been charged yet with “kidnapping and first-degree sexual assault.” the 6 years was JUST for transporting the boy across state lines to have sex with him, NOT for the actual sex.
and he was 13 when the crime that you’re actually talking about took place—transporting him across state lines.
So YES it WOULD BE maybe a small sentence for actually having sex with a minor, but that’s not what the 6 years is for.
Hey, people long ago got married at 12. Though in modern times, that Is not a good thing to do. How terrible——it was a teacher!!
