Best Font Creation Program For Mac?

Asked by jtvoar16 (2171points) October 19th, 2008

I am looking for a program that runs on Leopard 10.5.5 that will let me make professional fonts for Mac and Windows.
My biggest requierement is this:
I want to be able to take a photo file, (formate doesn’t matter because I can convert) and use that is the template for the font; as in: I want the program to trace the file for me, or give me some very fast way of tracing it myself.
I have used a few freeware ones, and they are basically asking you to make everything in their app, which, having this complicated font, doesn’t work for me.
The only pay-for app I have used is FontStudio which isn’t that bad, but it is still a little to technical and convoluted for me.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Illustrator can convert vectors to a font library? How? I guess I haven’t really looked.
I’m going to go check that out!
Any suggestions as to stream line the work?
