What is the thing that you find scariest at a haunted house?

Asked by evelyns_pet_zebra (12923points) October 20th, 2008

I am looking for ideas next year for the haunted attraction where I work and I’d like some input as to what really scares the ‘you-know-what’ out of people. What does it for you?

The price to get in.

When people jump out of the dark when I least expect it. That always makes me scream.

I hate love it when people jump out at you from behind corners. Extra credit when they have blood running down their faces, and stuff!

I think they are allowing this less and less, but I remember going in haunted houses growing up where people could actually grab you, or at least get very, very close to it. To this day I am petrified of them. I guess if you’re really trying to scare the bejeezus out of people, get as close to them as you possibly can. But I’ll be staying away.

ppl jumping out at you…or things you think are statues that turn out to be real ppl and jump out at you. pitch blackness.
the smell/sound of a chainsaw. warnings by the door always freak ppl out (don’t enter if you have heart condition etc/not responsible for any reactions etc). Ppl being able to TOUCH you…

well, thanks for the great answers so far. Most haunts don’t allow for touching since people are sue-happy nowadays. Some of these answers were dumb, and you know who you are. This was an honest question, odd how some people have to be (expletive deleted) to find attention.

@evelyns I know…about the grabbing thing…it’d be fun tho.
Just having someone—gently—grab at your ankles or something!
