Do you secretly wait to be added to certain Fluthers?

Asked by asmonet (21445points) October 21st, 2008

I ain’t gonna lie. I get all warm and fuzzy when I get added to people’s Fluthers. But when I see someone whose answers have impressed me regularly add me… I get stupid happy.

Does anyone here secretly wait for certain other users to add them first? And on the other hand, do you ever get annoyed if someone you regularly disagreed with (perhaps privately) adds you to theirs? Does that make you curious?

Just wondering out loud I guess. :-p
please don’t think i hate anyone on my fluther or who has me on theirs. hehe

No. It’s never been a secret. Just add me. Me like it when me get added. It makes my head swell even bigger!

asmonet's avatar

@AC: Silly Chuck, you’re already on mine!

I am confused by this. As I am aware we are all on Fluther? Arn’t we? Or am I doing that thing again were I faze between dimensions? I do that a lot, yesterday I was in the realm of gravity. It made me appreciate my weight here in this dimension!

mea05key's avatar

Arh.. i only wish to learn and express myself. Not waiting for people to add me.

asmonet's avatar

@jtvoar16: I mean when you specifically add someone to your fluther. You can see who added you by clicking on your account. And you can also see who you have added. :)

Re; the question, personally, no.

a little bit, but that doesn’t mean I hold it against those who don’t.

@asmonet, I’ve been just pining to be in your fluther. Perhaps one day I will be worthy!

Ah, I had no idea you could “friend” people.
So I guess to answer you question.
No.

willbrawn's avatar

well I must say this question makes me wonder how people act when I add them.

Love me? Or love me not?
That is the question.

andrew's avatar

I mean really, the only reason we added the feature was to stroke my ego.

asmonet's avatar

@Andrew: That’s kinda sorta fantastic.

deaddolly's avatar

Umm…no, I really don’t care who adds me. I only add ppl I think I compatible with. I’ve always hated popularity things and that’s what those remind me of.

AstroChuck's avatar

Yeah. I love having my “ego” stroked too.

@ asmonet-well, Your in my fluther and I am not in yours. I think your a great part of the collective, as I do others. I think you add a lot in your answers and questions. I don’t take it personally that I am not in yours. I used to but I am trying not to be that way. It was left over baggage from being a twin.

asmonet's avatar

Thanks very much Bri, funnily enough, I’ve been assuming you were in my fluther. And your adding me and posting is what called attention to my oversight. :)

grats on an even 5k of lurve, so sorry I have to add five but you made me laugh

Bri_L's avatar

I was not begging, but I wanted to point out that you have to go with your gut. Now I felt good about your adding me because of how I felt about your answers.

thanks for the 5k congrats! I have no idea where that came from

While I understand the premise, I’m not that big a fan of myFluther. I kind of ignore it.

You’re already in my fluther, asmonet.

and I’m secretly waiting to be added to yours.

rowenaz's avatar

That’s a nice way of putting it, @jtvoar16, I didn’t realize we were friending people by adding them. I just thought we liked their answers and wanted to be notified if they answered additional questions. I think it’s funny that people can add you whether you want them to or not – because for example on facebook you have to accept a “friend” request. I never considered the possibility that someone might friend you, just to follow you around and play devil’s advocate to your responses….

breedmitch's avatar

@rowenaz: One can only see the questions asked by persons in “your fluther”. One is not alerted when someone in “your fluther” answers a question.

asmonet's avatar

@breedmitch: Can you imagine what that would be like if gailcalled was on your list?!

@pete: Dear lord! What’s wrong with me? And you were the very first to fluther me!

breedmitch's avatar

I’d be honored to read anything that gailcalled thoughtfully took the time to write.

rowenaz's avatar

Well that explains all the quietude….thanks for the clarification!

I admit it. I do get a kick out of being added by people I admire. Sadly, two previous “trolls” added me to their Fluthers, and I wish I could remove myself from those!

If Gail ever adds anyone to her Fluther, I will be vastly impressed by that person! Pick me, pick me! Kidding, Gail.

shadling21's avatar

I’m new(ish) still. I feel cheesed to be added to anyone’s Fluther, but especially so when it’s someone that I’ve taken a liking to. I don’t wait around for it though (since I’d be disappointed if it didn’t happen).

BTW: Hello, augustlan! Cheers!

deaddolly's avatar

It’d be nice to have to agree to being added to someone’s fluther. I guess either way, I’m not too concerned.

AstroChuck's avatar

@shandling21— The meanings of some words have changed since I was younger. When you said you feel “cheesed” I first thought that you were pissed off.

shadling21's avatar

@Chuck – I never knew it meant that! It’s a complete 180! After I read your response I began to worry that I’ve been using it incorrectly since I first heard it (a couple of years ago). The Urban Dictionary kind of acknowledges it (see #6 – 2 thumbs up, 39 thumbs down!). Weird.
