How do i change the name of pictures?

all my pictures are named with random numbers that the camera assigned to them, like 1002–456 would be the 456th photo i took. i want to make the ones from a trip to South Africa “South Africa 1”, etc… and photos from France “France 1”, etc… how do i edit them all at once on my mac? how do i set my camera to make an album name? i have an olympus stylus 790 SW.

you could do the renaming with a renamer tool, and the sorting within iphoto, it’s a lot faster than figuring out how exactly to change it on the camera (if it’s even possible at all)
