How can I add more rules in Outlook 2007?

Asked by eatmunky (358points) October 28th, 2008

This is for my work email. I have about 11 rules set up, but with the sheer volume of emails It would be totally helpful to have more. I’m thinking 20 should be perfect. As it stands now, it won’t let me add new ones. When I try to, the new one just replaces an old one. Does anyone know if you can add more rules to Outlook?

probably not, let’s not forget that this is microsoft software, limited and inflexible…

Exchange server is limiting you to 32K of rules in outlook, and from what i have just been reading it cannot be changed. This could be an option although i have not tried any of it or had any experience at all attempting to bypass the limit.

< < currently has 60 rules defined in Outlook.

@eatmunky, can you provide an example of the longest rule you have defined?

BTW, the expected behavior if the number/size of rules had been exceeded would be for Outlook to pop an error message… not to replace other rules. Something’s hinky here.

@robmandu: These are the two longest rules I have in place:

Apply this rule after the message arrives
from -CQA Submissions or Scott ****** or Darryl ***** or Malik **** or Brian ********* or Joseph *******
and with ‘Wii’ or ‘DS’ or ‘Xbox’ or ‘360’ in the subject
move it to the Microsoft and Nintendo folder.

Apply this rule after the message arrives
from Mastering Lab
and with Burning in the subject
and on this machine only
move it to the 2 Burning folder
and mark it as read

Thanks for any help you can provide.
