Am looking for a pocket size camera with a non-interchangeable lens with the widest "zoom" to "wide angle" range available.

Must have an optical AND LCD viewfinder.

what are you going to be shooting? There are a few options but some have digital zoom and that’s not that great. Lemme know what your pics are of and I’ll see if I can help.

Not interested in digital zoom. I have a camera with a 20mm-200mm lens and want a compact with a lens with a similar sort of range. General purpose pocket camera. Like the DSC-W300 from SONY.

Panasonic has an excellent line of point and shoots that have a high zoom range and also switchable wide-angle modes. I had an LX3 awhile ago and it was great – a high level of manual control along with a configurable 4:3 to 16:9 aspect ratio that was fun to play with.
