El_Cadejo's avatar

YAY no more crappy mccain ads on tv! (its bad that thats one of the first things to come to mind isnt it?)

Likeradar's avatar

YES!!!
I am so excited the big day is finally here. It will be such a relief to have it be over (and settled, hopefully, in the way I want it to be…)

Vote. Vote. Vote!!!

shadling21's avatar

Wow. Wish there was this much excitement up here in Canada three weeks ago…

asmonet's avatar

@uberbatman: Knowing his campaign they’ll keep running for a while.

augustlan's avatar

Oh God, I can’t wait for this day to be over! I’m excited and scared and sick to my stomach.

breedmitch's avatar

Happy Election Day Everybody!!

shadling21's avatar

Gah! How many ppl can craft a response at once?

AstroChuck's avatar

Hip hip hooray! Finally! Just think, after tomorrow we’ll have six whole months rest before the campaigning for the 2012 election starts!

augustlan's avatar

@shadling: Don’t feel bad…it isn’t usually like this here, either!

fireside's avatar

I left milk and cookies out for Obama so that he can have a snack when he comes down the chimney with health care and tax cuts.

jrpowell's avatar

Folks, this needs to be a landslide. Don’t get lazy and assume that it is in the bag. They can steal a close one.

And Republicans vote on the fifth.

AstroChuck's avatar

@fireside- Great idea! I’ll leave the carrot sticks out for his reindeer who’ve been hard at work getting out the vote.

asmonet's avatar

Why’d you have to harsh my mellow, Chuck?

asmonet's avatar

@shadling: Dunno, but it made me happy to see it on the thread I started. :D

So far, this thread has averaged one post per minute. And it’s speeding up. Booya!

dalepetrie's avatar

Excited, but sad that I won’t have much to talk about here anymore. But I’m looking forward to collecting on a bet with a Republican…we’ve each agreed that whomever loses has to make a $25 donation to the other side’s national committee.

asmonet's avatar

Ha! Nice one, Dale. I’m sure we’ll find another topic for you to write a novel about on here. We all enjoy it. :)

jrpowell's avatar

@Dale :: Once the election is over is when we should switch to holding their feet to fire. There is always going to be a place for thoughtful analysis.

And I am glad I am not the only one that made a bet.

MrMeltedCrayon's avatar

I’m excited, but I have this horrible feeling in my gut that’s telling me I’m going to be disappointed. I’m trying to stay optimistic about it though.

asmonet's avatar

Okay, so I haven’t had a bad feeling at all really, until just now. Today is gonna suck.

I’m glad I’m on vacation so I can just hang out and stress.

MrMeltedCrayon's avatar

@asmonet: Sorry if my pessimism ruined your good vibes. :\

asmonet's avatar

Ha, it’s all good. I live in denial about big things until the last second. Just how I am, I’m more productive that way.See, instead of two years of stress I get off easy with 24 hours. :)

loser's avatar

I wrote a song about it! Wanna hear it? Here it goes…

(Sung to Jingle Bells)

Election Day! Election Day!
Finally it’s here!
No more stupid campaign ads to fill us full of fear!
Election Day! Election Day!
Let’s break out the beer!
All be done ‘cuz someone won!
So everybody cheer!!!

asmonet's avatar

I’m totes singing that in line. I hope to get a group going a capella.

girlofscience's avatar

I’m excited.

I’m also a subject in a research study in which I provide saliva samples at different time periods before, throughout, and after the election to measure my fluctuation in hormone levels as a result of my stress/excitement/disappointment as related to how my candidate is doing.

So I guess we’ll know soon just how excited I am.

La_chica_gomela's avatar

I am so freaking excited! I woke up at 7:00 to vote (and I don’t get up that early for very
much!?

DID I VOTE?
DONE AND DONE!

Great question, asmonet!!

Bri_L's avatar

Yes.

Yes I am. If only to stop getting 8 flyers of bull a day and all these robo calls.

But especially to move on and hopefully get someone in who can start fixing this mess.

dalepetrie's avatar

@johnpowell – sweet!

La_chica_gomela's avatar

Bri L, you must live in a swing state. i sure didn’t get any fliers!

asmonet's avatar

I live in Virginia, I got fliers everyday. And had McCain fliers removed from my house when our Obama sign was up. :D

augustlan's avatar

I got at least 8 robo-calls (WV). Thank God it’s over, and Obama won!

AstroChuck's avatar

WV? I thought you were MD.

Bri_L's avatar

@ LaChica I just found out last night I am apparently surrounded by a bunch of rich and or old white folks. (I have no idea how that happened as I am poor). They voted McCain while my state went Obama

asmonet's avatar

Aug: You’re so close to me! I didn’t know that, not that it changes much, just kind of cool. :)

augustlan's avatar

@Chuck and Asmonet: I am from MD, and grew up 20 minutes outside of DC (Gaithersburg/Rockville). Lived for 20 years in Frederick, MD and moved to Martinsburg, WV 4 years ago. I really, really miss Maryland! asmonet…where are you, anyway?
