What are your plans if the election does not go the way you want?

Asked by judochop (16119points) November 3rd, 2008

Some feel so strongly about this election that I have over heard things from folks saying that they will riot or move to Canada. How about you? Will you just be upset or do you have a plan to make a difference?

How many Baldwins threatened to leave last time, and turned out to be liars?

Move to Fiji.

Spend another four years saying, “Well, it’s not my fault. I didn’t vote for him” all the time.

judochop's avatar

@jholler, I remember that. The Baldwins are a funny group.

Ditto what MacBean said!

I know that it won’t go the way I want. I do not even remotely like either McCain or Obama. What will I do? I’ll continue to annoy my friends about how the status is NOT quo, all the while hoping that it will make a difference next time around.

Same as MacBean, and then volunteer for those four to make damn sure I’m doing all that’s in my power to fix that colossal clusterfuck.

This election has brought out the best/worst in me. If Obama does not get elected, I think I’ll have to become more involved in politics. Maybe become an activist with the purpose of broadening some minds, spreading education about the process and what’s really at stake. I may even consider running for some small office myself.

I’m going to go with my answer (shown below) that I used in another question similar to this one. It worked there and it works here also.

I’ll remember that there is life after politics and I won’t let this election and whatever new president we get dictate or change how I think or exist on a day to day basis. I’ll look out for me and mine like I always have and I’ll try to make the very best out of each and every day that I have.

My whole school already agreed not to attend school if mccain wins. We’d all be packing our bags and moving.

I will support my new President, even if he was not my choice. That’s what proud Americans do. That doesn’t mean I will blindly approve of everything he does. I will work, volunteer and vote to make the changes that I can. After everything is said and done, we are Americans and will hopefully stand together to bring the changes our country needs to be a better and stronger America for ourselves and our children. Remember our President is just the vehicle we drive to change. We, as citizens of this great country, are the drivers.

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

I’ll probably give up on Democracy and become bitter and disconnected.
