Anyone got an Invitation?

Asked by Shake (28points) November 6th, 2008 from iPhone

I was wondering if anyone had an invitation for chi.mp. Or BETA code. Thanks a million.

Is it just me or do we get a lot of “does anyone have an invitation to XYZWebsite?” questions?

Hey Empress. That’s actually why I joined originally. Benseven set me up. He’s a good guy.

Here’s the unfortunate deal: you don’t get 5 beta codes to give to friends, or whatever. You get one code, and it’s tied to your registration name.

The only way to get a code is to join the list at http://chi.mp.

So, get yourself on the list, and good luck. :)

The worst part is that Chimp were at FOWA, but I didn’t know who they were at the time so I didn’t think to ask. Aww :(

@PnL: Sort of. There’s quite a few online profile and dashboard networks already, but Chimp is a little different because of the way they do the domains.

They’ve bought the .mp domain first-bid rights, so instead of your online profile being something like johndoe.onlynprofilz.com, it can be johndoe.mp. Someone can type johndoe.mp into a browser, and it’ll be your Chimp profile.

The best part is that it’s free.

Plus it just looks like a really polished service. Should be good.

If anyone is interested, the .mp extension used to belong to the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands.

I was.

cool. thanks for the info rich

@rh: That would have cost a fair bit to buy then wouldn’t it..?

@yannick: Accounts are free. Perhaps they’ll offer upgrades in the future to make money. But no, they give the domains away.

If you’re talking about the cost to Chimp, I have no idea what sort of deal they worked out.
