Is working out related to my hormones raging lately?

Asked by skord (208points) November 10th, 2008

I’ve led a mostly sedentary lifestyle after a bad bicycle accident a few years ago. A few weeks ago, I started a work out program, cardio twice a day 5 days a week, and resistance training 3 days a week. About a week into the program, I noticed I’m raging like I was 15 again, even though I’m 30 now. I get angry, confused, I’m hungry a lot, I sleep a lot, I’m after my wife a lot (in the good way), and I’m generally just a mess. Could these two things be related or are they co-incidental?

Exercise, especially resistance training will increase the amount of testosterone in your system, so yes, working out is related to your raging hormones. Enjoy it!

Raging hormones….

Great fun.

I think I notice the same thing happening to me when I go on an exercise binge.

Umm…yepper. Exercise will start all sorts of things happening. And, when you start to see the benefits of exercise it will no longer be just hormonal, it will be a new thinking process. You will start to believe you look good, and when you believe you look good you feel good. And when you feel good, well, the world’s your oyster.
