What is the best time of year to buy?

Asked by jsc3791 (1988points) November 17th, 2008

I am in the market for a leather couch and maybe a matching loveseat, chair and/or ottoman.

Should I buy now or hold out for end of year sales?

Does anyone have any inside info on when the “big sales” are going to happen?

Is there a best time of year to make a big purchase such as this?

Thanks for your help!

I would suggest to you that now is not a bad time to buy anything. In short, it is a buyer’s market. In general, people have cut way back on discretionary spending. Businesses such as furniture retailers are likely to be much more willing to negotiate in these tough financial times.

Black Friday.

asmonet….interestingly, black friday sales are starting much earlier this year (as in now). I frequently shop online and have been inundated w/ sales info for online only stores and for those stores w/ “brick and mortar” and online shopping.

Happy shopping!
