Can someone tell me the negative aspects of owning an iPhone that has been hacked to any network?

Can I still install apps from the store? Also I heard somewhere that you can’t use visual voice mailing either?

Visual voice mail is provided by the carrier so if you are not using AT&T (or who ever) you won’t get visual voice mail.

I heard (unverified) that iPhone cellular data networks can be sketchy on non-supportive carriers.

You will still be able to use wifi to its fullest. This means that anything you want to purchase from the app store can be done over wifi, or through the iTunes store, and synced to your iPhone.

As Lightlyseared said, visual voice mail will not work. Period.
