Where should I take my wife in the Phoenix area for a weekend getaway?

Asked by derekpcollins (281points) November 23rd, 2008

My wife and I live in Prescott and sometimes its nice to get away and go down to Phoenix when it starts to get cooler up here. I’m looking for a place in the Phoenix area that isn’t too expensive where we can stay for the weekend and my wife can be pampered (e.g. massage, manicure, pedicure, etc.). Can anyone suggest a good place from personal experience?

In Scottsdale we love the Gainey Ranch. It’s so lovely and well appointed. Lot’s to do and a very relaxing spa. http://scottsdale.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp

@bythebay – Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I’m looking for something that is under $200 per night. The Gainey Ranch looks beautiful, but rooms are ~ $360 per night.

…sorry. Do check out the Hyatt web-site because they often have weekend specials.

@bythebay – No problem. I’ll definitely check their site.

You might try the Valley Ho in Scottsdale. It’s sort of a funky 50’s place that’s been redone and it’s got a nice spa. I’ve had many facials, massages etc there. It’s also near Trader Vic’s and the Tortilla Factory, which are both good restaurants.

I ended up making reservations at the Scottsdale Cottonwoods Resort. I got a great deal on one of their top suites that has a private, in-ground hot tub. They don’t have a spa at the hotel, but they are right next to Dolce Salon & Spa.

Has anyone stayed at this hotel or been to Dolce?

I was a Dolce regular when I lived in AZ. It’s a very nice medium priced spa and I know your wife will like it. I had my hair done there every month, mani/pedis, facials and massage. Try April for nails and Brooklyn for hair if either are available. If not, anyone is a safe bet. Their training program is excellent. Not familiar with the hotel though. Based on the location could you mean the Scottsdale Conference Resort on Indian Bend and Scottsdale Rd? If so, it’s a good hotel. Nice service. I’ve held multiple events there over the years

@baseballnut: I should have linked to the Scottsdale Cottonwoods Resort in my previous post. They are located at 6160 N. Scottsdale Rd. next to the Borgata Shopping Village (which is where Dolce is). Are you familiar with that at all?

Sorry to ignore you. Was on a cruise to Mexico with no email access. I am not familiar with the Cottonwoods Resort but the website looks great! Borgata is a good area and I know you all will enjoy your weekend.

@baseballnut: No worries. Sounds like you were having a good time! Thanks for all of your responses. I’ll post here when we get back letting everyone know how it goes.
